Van Flein to serve as interim associate vice chancellor for student affairs

Sept. 11, 2025
We are pleased to announce that Kaydee Van Flein will assume the role of interim associate vice chancellor for student affairs while Ali Knabe serves as interim chief of staff to Interim Chancellor Mike Sfraga.
Van Flein currently serves as executive director of the Office of Rights, Compliance, and Accountability, where she oversees key areas including Clery, Title IX, Title VII, ADA, and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act compliance, along with student accountability, the Student CARE team, and misconduct investigations under Board of Regents’ policies.
She has been deeply engaged in this work for many years. In 2018, she played a central role in establishing the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities and became its first permanent director in 2021. She and her team created the Office of Rights, Compliance, and Accountability in 2023, a combined office for CSRR and the Department of Equity and Compliance. With extensive experience in Student Conduct, Student CARE, and Clery Act compliance—and service as both interim director and Title IX coordinator—Van Flein brings a wealth of knowledge and strong collaborative relationships to this interim role.
Please join us in congratulating Van Flein on this appointment. We are fortunate to have her leadership and expertise supporting Student Affairs during this transition.
