May 01, 2025
As the academic year draws to a close, it's a perfect time for reflection. Let's take a moment to review our work and ask: How did we do? This May, 1,221 students will graduate from UAF -- the highest spring graduation total since 2017. This remarkable milestone, and the countless inspiring student success stories behind it, reflect the collective triumph of our students, staff and faculty. As Chancellor White often says, "Enrollment is everyone's job." Your dedication has made this celebration possible. Our greatest measure of success is the students who cross the finish line. Every member of our UAF community helped to make this possible. You did this. Thank you.

Friday Focus: A time of celebration
April 25, 2025
Next Saturday is one of my favorite days of the year - Commencement! As I reflect on what commencement is and what it means, I am reminded of the opportunities that come with closing one chapter in life and beginning a new one. The ceremonial walk across the stage at commencement signifies that transition for every graduating student and family of a graduate. It is also a time of transition for each of you who have supported these students as faculty, staff, and administrators. As you participate in commencement events this week, please reflect on the ways that each of you impacted the journey of these graduating students. And in doing so, be proud. Their accomplishment is a reflection of the work of many.
