Soft-sediment (benthic) seafloor communities, primarily in the polar regions. Invertebrate and microbial communities and the role of these communities in the functioning of polar ecosystems. Topics of interest include processing of organic matter by seafloor organisms, marine biodiversity and food webs, molecular approaches to marine ecology, and environmental influences on seafloor communities.
