Workforce Development
Alaska Blue Economy Center has been working with a broad range of partners throughout the Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø
on blue economy-related workforce development, including the Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø
                        Southeast Applied Fisheries Program, the Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks Teaching Through
                        Technology Program, and Prince William Sound
College at the Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Anchorage, among others.
In 2024, this work resulted in the publication of the , which
recommended, among other things, the development of a "glidepath" whereby Alaskan
                        K-12 students are introduced to mariculture, and provided with additional opportunities
                        for learning. In 2025, ABEC presented on some relevant and resulting work at the annual
                        meeting of the American Fisheries Society (AFS) annual meeting
in San Antonio, Texas, where AFS and Content With Purpose launched their "Tomorrow’s
                        Catch: Securing our Future Fisheries" series. ABEC and partners were featured as part
                        of this series, with more details available (including a short documentary) at the

Prince William Sound College (PWSC) is a one-of-a-kind institution of higher education
                                                located in Valdez, Alaska. The main campus and its extension sites in Cordova and
                                                Copper Basin are set amidst some of the country’s most breathtaking scenery and rich
                                                cultural history.
