In 2017, the drew energy leaders from across Canada, Alaska and Greenland. Tyler Kornelis, Kodiak regional energy coordinator for the , was one of the participants.
“ARENA provided me access to professionals and energy experts throughout the Arctic
nations,” Kornelis said. “I continue to network with these professionals and energy
experts on my active projects to this day. ARENA provided incredible insight into
what is possible in our northern regions — throughout Alaska, Canada and Iceland.”

Kornelis recently graduated from National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Executive Energy Leadership Academy — aka “Energy Execs.”

“NREL Energy Execs program was a great opportunity to expand my network of professionals
working throughout the energy sector, learn about the wide array of resources and
experts located at the Golden, Colorado, campus, and support my ability to develop
energy projects in rural Alaska,” Kornelis said. “The participants in the 2019 Energy
Execs class came from a wide range of industries and experiences, allowing me to learn
from the NREL team and from our shared experience in the program.”
