ACEP’s Energy Technology Facility (ETF) continues to ramp up for the test of a flywheel design created by Hatch and Â鶹¹ÙÍø Engineer, David Light, has been preparing the Power Systems Integration Lab (PSI Lab) to take on this new technology.
Last week, the ETF Manager David Light disconnected the PSI Lab’s current Grid Forming Inverter (GFI) to make room for the Lab’s new 315kW inverter which will need to be installed prior to the launch of the flywheel testing.
Next on the list is the expansion of the Lab’s current battery bank. The new batteries needed for this are expected to arrive around the same time as the new inverter.
David Light removes components from the PSI Lab’s current GFI that will be used on the new inverter. Once it arrives, it will be installed in the location that the old inverter occupied. Photo courtesy MFrey, ACEP/UAF.
